Cathedral Cove is a famous cave/rock formation on the Coromandel Peninsula. It is located right on the edge of an ocean-side bay and has been carved by the rough sea.
A visit to this spectacular location is considered one of the best things to do in Aotearoa.
Cathedral Cove, is located only a couple of kilometers from the town Hahei, Coromandel.
Besides being a beautiful beach it also was a film location in the Narnia films and since then has shot to international fame.
It is an extremely popular place among photographers, locals, and tourists. Visitor numbers to Cathedral Cove exceed 500,000 people per year and as such, Cathedral Cove in New Zealand is a very busy attraction in New Zealand.
A walk from nearby Ha Hei takes about an hour and takes in Gemstone and Sting Ray Bay along the way – both good for snorkeling.
